Joomla! is the winner of "Best PHP Open Source Content Management System" for 2007. The award marks the second time Joomla! has won a prestigious Packt prize. Runners up were Drupal, followed by e107. The judges indicated that Joomla! is 'possibly one of the biggest success stories in open source of late'. "Its first release came in only September 2005 and since then has grown to be one of the most downloaded Content Management Systems on the web.

After three intense months of voting, Packt Publishing can today announce that Drupal has won the Overall 2007 Open Source CMS Award. With 18,000 votes on Packt’s website, coupled with the expert opinions from a panel of judges, Drupal succeeds Joomla! as the overall winner and receives a cheque for $5,000. Joomla! and Drupal occupied first and second places in 2006, with their quality proving to be popular with the judges again this year. Joomla! retains its position in the top three, coming second and winning $3,000, with CMS Made Simple in third collecting $2,000.

Pligg is an Open Source Web 2.0 CMS. Pligg uniquely combines collaborative bookmarking, social networking and blogging. Here, visitors are creator, consumer and judge of the content. Each submitted news item has a vote button, URL and optionally a short description. Visitors may vote and comment on any item.
